Mawu Ama Ma’at G. Oyesii (they/them) is a Brooklyn native currently residing in Philadelphia. As a black, queer, Caribbean and multi hyphenate artist their movement practice is about food– sustenance, ceremony and storytelling. A graduate of Georgian Court University (BA) and Temple University (MFA). Honored to learn from luminaries: Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Dr. Kariamu Welsh and Lela Aisha Jones. Mentored by Silvana Cardell touring with Cardell Dance Theater. Founder and director of the project-based company, Ma’at Works Dance Collective and adjunct professor at Bryn Mawr College.

Jah Elyse SAyers (they/them) directs theyr creative energy toward Black queer and trans liberators placemaking using research, writing, teaching, building, and art making. They have shown work at Vox Populi (Philadelphia) metaDEN (NYC), and you can find their writing in Wagadu: A Journey of Transnational Women’s and Gender Studies, BRICLab Essays, The Trophallaxis Study Group, Deem Journal, and Society & Space Magazine.

Sound & Audio Engineer

Majesty Royale-Jackson is a performance maker, sound artist, and ghost occupying liminal spaces. Royale-Jackson is a graduate of the University of the Arts (BFA Dance), a 2020 Pina Bausch Choreography fellow, and 2021 New York Live Arts Fresh Tracks Artist. Their work confronts claims of ownership on the body by engaging in radical defiance of how one should be. They use flamboyance, language reconstruction, community engagement, coded language, (mis)representation, voice, glitter, and sweat in their performance work.

Royale-Jackson has performed in the US and Europe with artists such as: Niall Jones, Bouchra Ouizguen, Isabel Lewis, Jesse Zaritt, makini m. poe, Solange Knowles, Gerard & Kelly and Jocelyn Cottencin among others. They have designed sound art in their own work and the works of others to include at the University of the Arts and the Philadelphia Ballet. They have also presented at Tanzmesse NRW, See Chicago Dance, and Abrons Art Center.

Movement Artist & Digital Nomad

Graciella Ye’Tsunami (they/Tsunami/we/Ocean) is a queer Black fat trans non-binary artist based in Brooklyn. A movement maker, ass shaker, writer, embodied portal, living altar, and community builder, Tsunami embodies and practices love as a means of Black radical resistance. Their creative process is an intersection of trans Afro-Diasporic movement investigations, echo-locations, rememberings, and Black quantum love letters as practices of freedom.

Tsunami has their MFA in Dance from Temple University. They’re a digital content writer for PushBlack, the largest nonprofit media organization for Black Americans.Tsunami also writes poetry, and is a freelance theater and dance dramaturge.

Amethyst Rose is an independent artist from Chicago IL, they started their journey at Chicago Academy for the Arts High School and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater where they received their certification. Amethyst has worked with Winifred Haun and dancers and other companies in the Chicago land. This will be their premiere performance with Gender Fuck Production.

Jasper B. Cabrera, a Georgian Court BFA graduate rekindles her passion for movement artistry. Her journey back into movement reflects a profound connection to the project's narrative, a story she couldn’t resist exploring. Having performed works with choreographic gems from luminaries like Gregory King, Camille A. Brown, Silvana Cardell, and David Parsons, Jasper's return is marked by a wealth of experience. Excitement fills the air as Jasper embarks on this new collaboration with Mawu.

Mai’yah Kau they/she (b. 1998) is a Liberian, diasporic, multidisciplinary artist raised in Aquehonga Manacknong, Lenapehoking (Staten Island, New York), specifically in the area of Park Hill and based in Brooklyn. They studied Photography and Global Studies with a concentration in African Art (‘21). Through her work she delves into spiritual self-expression through food production + migration, storytelling, music, performance, dance and tales of everyday life in Afro spiritual practices. They explore communal and meaningful ways to keep alive the heritage that enlightened the lives of those who came before them, while remaining true to new imaginings of personal and social identities and traditions. Movement Artist & Digital Nomad

Lee Edwards (they/them) is a profoundly sensitive and curious artist, educator and arts administrator with a deep commitment to the convergence of art, care, and sociopolitical action. Lee earned their BFA in Dance from the University of the Arts and completed their MFA in Dance: Embodied Interdisciplinary Praxis, along with a Master’s Certificate in African and African American Studies, at Duke University. Lee’s artistic practice views the body as an archive while amplifying first person narratives and offering social critique. Their practice occurs through the use of performance, installation, ethnography, improvisational and somatic techniques, collaboration and writing. Lee is a recipient of the 2023-2024 Durham Arts Council Artist Support Grant, Conference Manager of CADD 2024 and Programs Manager with IABD.

Vox Populi, the Center for Performance Research, The William Way Center, Icebox Project Space, and Black Arts Matter Alberta have featured their choreographicand visual works. The Leeway Foundation, Cannonball and Fringe Festival, Small But Mighty Arts, Mural Arts Philly, and Queer Art’s Eva Yaa Asantewaa Grant have supported their creative works. and most recently became a 2021 Pew Fellow. Angel is currently a MFA candidate at the University of the Arts for Dance.

Current Philadelphia Artist, Sophiann Mahalia moved from Hartford, Connecticut to receive her BFA in Dance Choreography and Performance from Temple University. Sophiann graduated Summa Cum Laude and had the honor of being the recipient of the Rose Vernick Most Promising Performers Award. Her recent works include Tierra Whack’s music video 27 Club, Gilead’s commercial campaign “Press Play”, and Harry Potter Holiday Campaign Shoot. Alongside this, she was one of the featured dancers for Ari Lennox’s Shea Butter Baby music video featuring J Cole, a dancer in the music video Clarity for singing artist Saleka Night Shyamalan, and model in a Black & Mild commercial campaign shoot.

Costume Designer

Aaron Mack (he/him) is a queer and trans artist from Connecticut living and working in Philadelphia. As an artist they have had opportunities to do costuming for Quintessence Theater for their rendition of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. This past summer they explored more of their puppetry work at Bread & Puppet and have been working with the something soft project as a costume designer and seamstress. He looks forward to exploring his creative mediums and finding new skills that intrigue him.
