Workshop Description
Beginning with somatic centering in four dimensions, we will enter embodied listening and communication with discarded and found materials, which we’ll repurpose into movement partners and sculpture, together, muddying the boundaries between sculpture and movement practice. And mud becomes clay. We follow black aliveness, as put forth by Kevin Quashie, and Octavia Butler’s adage that “The only lasting truth is change,” to invite participants to reach and feel inside and outside of the individuated body in order to shape and be shaped as acting, relational, and lasting beings.
